Getting to Cologne

There are 3 major airports near Cologne. Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) is only 16 km (10 miles) away form Cologne center. Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is 42 km (26 miles, approx. 40 min. by train) from Cologne. Also Frankfurt Airport (FRA), the busiest German airport, is less than one hour away by high-speed train (ICE).

 

From the Airport to Cologne Central Station

The webpage of German Rail services serves as a timetable for all train and bus connections. You can also book tickets and reserve seats on the page. Booking in advance may lead to significant savings on the fare.

  • Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)

Take the S-Bahn S13 (goes every 20 min.), a regional train or an IC/ICE (fast train) to Cologne Central Station. The journey takes approx. 15 minutes.

  • Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)

Take a regional train (e.g. RegionalExpress 1) or an IC/ICE to Cologne Central Station. The journey takes approx. 40 minutes and costs about 13 €. A taxi from the airport to Cologne center costs approx. 75 €.

  • Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

Take the ICE directly from Frankfurt Airport Railway Station (Fernbahnhof) to Cologne Central Station. The journey with the ICE takes approx. 60 minutes, the standard fare is 60 €.
