Modern methods in atmospheric profling within the HErZ observational campaign VITAL

"Modern methods in atmospheric profiling within the HErZ observational campaign VITAL" will be a joint module with Master students from other HErZ partner universities (https://www.hans-ertel-zentrum.de).

Module objectives and skills to be acquired: You will learn theory on modern state-of-the-art atmospheric profilers, receive hands-on training, carry out measurements and analyse these during a meteorological measurement campaign.

Module content: You will choose to be part of research project during the VITAL I campaign in August 2024 at Forschungszentrum Jülich. The research project will be prepared during the semester and carried out from 12-23 August at Forschungszentrum Jülich. An advisor team will guide you through the project.

Teaching methods: Preparatory seminar (hybrid format) Mondays at 16:00 (bi-weekly), Summer School at Forschungszentrum Jülich from 12-23 August (two-week excursion), the Summer School includes key-note lecturers from scientists in the field, discussion rounds on "hot-topics" in meteorological observations and a poster session at a mini-conference on August 23. A poster presentation on this day will count as the module examination.

All other important information will be given during the kick-off on April 15th at 16:00 (participation mandatory).
