Topic: Meteorological observations in mountainous areas
Block course at the Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus (on Mt. Zugspitze)

Costs to be paid by participants: Food (max. 100€)
Travel and accommodation at Schneefernerhaus will be covered

A preparatory meeting with further information will take place on Tuesday, 9 June 2020, at 11:00.
Structure of the module:
- Project work at UFS on one of the topics below, both hands-on work with instruments as well as data evaluation
Module examination:
- Oral Presentation of results
- Written report
Project work topics:
- Clouds and their radiative effect in mountains
- Diurnal cycle and mountain specifics of water vapor / temperature (Microwave radiometer)
- Vertical thermodynamic and wind profiles (Radiosondes)
- Precipitation estimation and classification in mountains with radars
- Synoptical features in the Alps
- Calibration of Microwave Radiometers
By successful completion of the module 6 ECTS credits points will be awarded.
