Start of the EU HORIZON FindHeat project

On November 18 and 19 the kick-off meeting for the FindHeat took place at the TU Delft Department of Geoscience and Engineering.

Supported by the CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, UK Research and Innovation, and Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF, FindHeat aims to develop and test new method and workflows to explore and appraise geothermal resources more effectively and efficiently, and to develop new ways to engage with local communities to support the scale-up of geothermal energy. Developed methods will be tested at several different geothermal systems across Europe.

The project combines a wide expertise delivered by 11 consortium members across Europe. Institute of Applied Geophysics and Meteorology contributed expertise in advanced 3-D geophysical modelling and imaging methods, which provide a non-invasive and environmentally friendly way to image the Earth's interior structure critical for assessing the geothermal potential.
