A new micro rain radar has been installed on Bear Island (Bjørnøya) in August. Bjørnøya is located half way between Spitsbergen and the North Cape. The micro rain radar measures precipitation as part of the COMBLE campaign (Jan-May 2020). Together with a suite of ground-based remote sensing instruments of the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program (U.S. Department of Energy), COMBLE will investigate the impact of cold-air outbreaks on the atmosphere. The data set will help to better understand atmospheric processes in the Arctic.
