  • Can you get into processes interior of the Earth, on the Earth's surface, and in the atmosphere?
  • Are you interested in climate, extreme meteorological events, and observation systems?
  • Would you like to know how the interior of the Earth is explored, how sun, planets, and moons interact?
  • Do you want to be made familiar with the most recent techniques of Earth exploration and modeling of the system Earth and the adjacent planets?

Then the study of Earth and Climate Physics with a focus on geophysics or meteorology at the University of Cologne is just the thing!

In the Bachelor's program ‘Earth and Climate Physics’ (in German), you will learn the scientific basics and, thanks to the proximity to research, also the working methods of a scientist. You can then choose the Master's program ‘Physics of the Earth and Atomsphere’ (in English), which builds on the basic knowledge of the Bachelor's program and provides advanced knowledge in an area of your choice - either geophysics or meteorology

Take your time and have a look around the following pages. And if you still have questions, simply contact the Student Advisory Service or the Student Council by email.

CPEX-LAB
Educating future meteorologists: Cloud and Precipitation Exploration Laboratory (CPEX-LAB) is a competence center of the Geoverbund ABC/J. Here, scientists from the Aachen-Bonn-Cologne-Jülich region conduct joint research on clouds and precipitation processes. CPEX-LAB contents contributes directly into the study programs Geophysics and Meteorology an at the University of Cologne and Meteorology und Geophysics at the University of Bonn.
