JOYCE Instrumentation

The majority of the JOYCE instruments is positioned on the roof of the Institut für Energie und Klimaforschung (IEK-8) at Forschungszentrum Jülich (50°54'30.77'' N, 6°24'48.73" E, 111 m MSL). The core instruments of JOYCE-CF can be found below. Further instrumentation on the same observation platform includes a Pluvio rain gauge, a meteorological station (temperature, pressure, wind, humidity) and a MAX-DOAS system for trace gases and aerosol operated by IEK-8. All instruments are described below.

The two X-Band radars are located at Sophienhöhe (JuXPol, 4 km north-east of JuCol) as well as at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Bonn (BoXPol).

Data access

Current and past JOYCE measurements can be found in our quicklook browser. Current radar images and animations can be found at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Bonn. Quicklooks from CloudNet processed measurements and products can be found on the CloudNet database.

For direct data access please go to the SAMD archive where many datasets of JOYCE-CF can be found. More data will follow in future. For datasets that cannot be found at SAMD, please contact the JOYCE-CF team
